What Happened?

On May 27, 2026, SunSource discovered that an unauthorized third party had briefly accessed a portion of its network.

The intrusion occurred between March 31, 2026, and April 5, 2026. After detecting the incident, SunSource hired a forensic expert to investigate and confirm the security of their network.

The investigation revealed that certain files containing personal information were accessed.

Information Exposed:

  • Names
  • Addresses
  • Government-issued ID numbers
  • Social Security numbers
  • Credit/debit numbers
  • Driver's licenses
  • Financial account information
  • Medical records

On April 30, 2026, the ransomware group known as Payouts King claimed responsibility for the attack and stated they obtained 700 GB of company data, threatening to publish it on the dark web.

SunSource notified affected individuals on June 16, 2026. So far, 2,142 individuals in Texas and 193 individuals in Massachusetts were reported as affected.
