About Stockton Cardiology Medical Group

Stockton Cardiology Medical Group is an independent cardiology practice that serves the San Joaquin Valley in California.

The practice offers a wide range of cardiac care, from preventive checkups to advanced interventional procedures, and is known for its comprehensive approach to patient care.

What Happened?

On Dec. 15, 2025, Stockton Cardiology detected suspicious emails sent to several employees.

Although these emails were promptly deleted, an investigation later revealed that certain files maintained for business and patient care may have been accessed and removed by an unauthorized individual. By Jan. 17, 2026, it was discovered that some of these files had been publicly disclosed.

On Feb. 17, 2026, the hacking group GENESIS claimed responsibility for the attack, stating on a dark web posting that they had obtained 645GB of data, including healthcare, personal and financial information, as well as operational data from company fileservers.

The breach was reported to the California Attorney General on March 20, 2026.
