What Happened?
On May 7, 2026, Pipestone Holdings disclosed a data breach to the Massachusetts Attorney General.
The breach was the result of a ransomware attack carried out by the group known as Akira, who claimed responsibility for the incident via a dark web posting on May 5, 2026. The attackers accessed and exfiltrated approximately 137 GB of data, including detailed client and employee documents.
The compromised information reportedly included personal documents such as passports, Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, financial and medical information, litigation documents, contracts, insurance files, and non-disclosure agreements.
According to the official notice sent to affected individuals, the specific types of information exposed were:
