CommonSpirit Health is a large nonprofit Catholic health system based in Chicago, Illinois. The organization was formed in 2019 through the merger of Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives and focuses on a wide range of services, including primary care, heart care, cancer care, orthopedics, women's health, and urgent care.

Pinnacle Holdings, LTD, a healthcare consulting company, is a vendor involved in this incident. Pinnacle was engaged by Northgauge Healthcare Advisors, which in turn provided services to CommonSpirit Health.

What Happened?

On Nov. 25, 2024, Pinnacle Holdings, LTD experienced a network disruption caused by a ransomware attack.

This incident affected certain systems on Pinnacle’s network. After the breach was discovered, Pinnacle isolated its network and implemented additional security measures.

A third-party investigation determined that a threat actor accessed and copied personal information from Pinnacle’s network between Nov. 11, 2024, and Nov. 25, 2024.

Pinnacle notified Northgauge Healthcare Advisors of the breach in Nov. 2025, but confirmation and identification of impacted individuals were not completed until Jan. 30, 2026.

CommonSpirit Health was informed of the affected Washington residents on Feb. 2, 2026.

  • Full dates of birth
  • Medical information
  • Other (unspecified) information

The breach was disclosed to the Washington Attorney General, with the company posting a supplementary notice on its website.

In Washington alone, 19,027 people were reported as affected.
