
Current and former employees residing in the United States whose private information the September 2024 Electronics for Imaging data breach affected may qualify to submit a claim for up to $5,400 from a class action settlement. The cybersecurity incident affected approximately 5,528 individuals.
Electronics for Imaging Inc. agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging a targeted cyberattack impacted its systems in September 2024. The complaint alleges EFI failed to adequately protect private information, which may have included names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, photo identification, driver’s licenses and Social Security numbers.
Who can file a claim for a data breach payout?
Class members are individuals residing in the United Sates whose private information the September 2024 EFI data breach impacted, including those that received notice of the incident.
How much are settlement payments?
Class members have the following benefit options:
- Ordinary out-of-pocket losses: Class members can claim up to $300 for documented expenses incurred between Sept. 17, 2024, and Dec. 22, 2026. Eligible expenses include fees for credit reports, credit monitoring, freezing or unfreezing credit or replacing IDs, or postage to contact financial institutions.
- Extraordinary out-of-pocket losses: Class members can claim up to $5,000 for documented losses due to identity theft or fraud caused the data breach caused. Ordinary out-of-pocket losses cannot already cover these losses, and another source cannot have reimbursed them.
- Lost Time: Class members can claim up to four hours at $25 per hour for time spent responding to the data breach ($100 maximum).
- Alternative cash payment: Class members who do not submit an ordinary losses, extraordinary losses or lost time claim can submit a claim to receive a one-time payment estimated at $75. The settlement administrator will determine the final payment amount by the total number of claims filed.
- Credit monitoring services: All class members can elect to receive three free years of CyEx Identity Defense Complete, which includes $1 million in identity theft insurance, real-time credit monitoring, dark web scanning and public records monitoring.
The settlement has a cash payment cap of $300,000. If if the total value of cash benefits class members claim exceeds this amount, the settlement administrator will reduce payments.
How to claim a class action rebate
To receive a settlement payment, class members can file a claim online or print and complete the PDF claim form and mail it to the settlement administrator.

Required proof and claim information
- To submit a claim online, class members must provide the login ID and PIN from the settlement notice they received.
- To submit an ordinary out-of-pocket losses claim, class members must provide supporting documentation, such as receipts or bank and credit card statements.
- To submit an extraordinary out-of-pocket losses claim, class members must proof of loss, evidence of identity theft or fraud the data breach caused and proof that they tried to recover the loss elsewhere.
