Healthcare consulting services company, Pinnacle Holdings, LTD, recently experienced a data breach impacting sensitive information related to patients affiliated with its healthcare organization clients.

The incident was first detected on Nov. 25, 2024, when the company discovered a network disruption affecting certain internal systems. According to the official notice of data event, an investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired data from Pinnacle Holdings' network between Nov. 11 and Nov. 25, 2024.

The breach exposed a range of personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI): patient names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state ID numbers, taxpayer ID numbers, passport numbers, financial account information, payment card details, online account credentials, digital signatures, biometric data, and dates of birth. In addition, sensitive medical and insurance information was involved, such as medical treatment or diagnosis information, prescription details, dates of service, patient and encounter ID numbers, provider names, patient account numbers, medical record numbers, Medicare and Medicaid numbers, health insurance information, claim and policy numbers, and treatment cost information.

Pinnacle Holdings' response

To support those impacted, Pinnacle Holdings has begun mailing notification letters to individuals whose address information was available. The company has also set up a dedicated toll-free call center at 1-866-686-2607, available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time (excluding major U.S. holidays). Affected individuals can contact this center for more information about the breach, ask questions, and access complimentary credit monitoring services.

Given the nature of the data involved, individuals are encouraged to remain vigilant for signs of identity theft or fraud. This includes regularly reviewing credit reports, bank account statements, and explanation of benefits forms for any suspicious activity or errors. Individuals may also consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze with the major credit bureaus: TransUnion (1-800-680-7289), Experian (1-888-397-3742), and Equifax (1-888-298-0045).
