About Artisans' Bank

Artisans' Bank is a community bank based in Wilmington, Delaware. Founded in 1861, the bank originally served working-class artisans during the Civil War era.

Over time, it has grown into a full-service independent institution, providing personal and business banking, commercial lending and cash management services to small and mid-sized businesses throughout Delaware.

What happened?

In August 2025, Artisans' Bank was impacted by a significant data breach involving its third-party marketing and communications vendor, Marquis Software Solutions Inc. On Aug. 14, 2025, Marquis detected suspicious activity on its network and discovered it was the victim of a ransomware attack.

An unauthorized third party accessed Marquis’ network through a security vulnerability and may have acquired sensitive files.

The investigation revealed that personal information belonging to customers of Artisans' Bank and other institutions was potentially accessed. Marquis notified affected business customers between October and November 2025, and Artisans' Bank began notifying individuals whose data may have been compromised.
