Union State Bank, a financial institution, has notified customers of a data breach involving a third-party vendor, Marquis Software Solutions.

Marquis, which previously provided marketing and communications services to the bank, experienced a security incident in 2025 that may have exposed some Union State Bank customers’ personal information. The breach was not limited to Union State Bank; customers from multiple organizations that used Marquis’ services may have been impacted.

Marquis mailed notification letters to potentially impacted individuals in January 2026. The incident was also disclosed on Union State Bank's website.

The breach affected a limited number of current and former Union State Bank customers, including those with closed accounts. Importantly, Marquis stated that customers who did not receive a letter are not believed to have been affected.

While the exact method of the breach and the number of affected individuals have not been disclosed, the information potentially exposed includes personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, account details, and other sensitive data provided to Marquis for marketing and communication purposes.

Union State Bank's response

In response to the incident, Union State Bank has provided clear communication and guidance to its customers. Marquis, as the responsible vendor, has offered 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through Epiq Privacy Solutions ID to those affected.

Impacted customers received direct notification by mail with instructions on how to enroll in these services.

Given the nature of the breach, affected individuals are encouraged to:

  • Review their credit reports for suspicious activity
  • Take advantage of the complimentary identity protection services
  • Monitor bank and credit card statements for unauthorized transactions
  • Consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze if they notice suspicious activity

Marquis has set up a dedicated customer assistance line, available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CST, at 855-403-1764, to answer questions and provide support.
