On May 7, 2025, Southern Connecticut Vascular Center LLC discovered a major data breach that affected 154,417 individuals in the United States. The breach involved unauthorized access to sensitive data, including both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) of patients.

Compromised information includes names, addresses, medical treatment details and health insurance information. The exposed information could potentially be used for identity theft, insurance fraud or to gain unauthorized access to medical services.

The breach was disclosed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on June 9, 2025. Southern Connecticut Vascular Center also posted a Notice of Data Security Incident on its own website on June 6, 2025.

Southern Connecticut Vascular Center's response

In addition to the required federal and state disclosures, Southern Connecticut Vascular Center is working to notify affected individuals.

If you believe your personal and protected health information may have been compromised in this breach:

  • Carefully review any notice or communication you receive from Southern Connecticut Vascular Center and sign up for free credit monitoring services, if offered.
  • Monitor financial accounts and credit reports for signs of identity theft.
  • Consider placing fraud alerts or credit freezes with the major credit bureaus.
  • Be cautious of unsolicited emails or phone calls requesting personal information.

For more information about the company and its services, visit the Southern Connecticut Vascular Center website.

Protect Your Data

A breach notice means your personal details could be circulating far beyond the organization involved. One practical step is continuous monitoring: services such as Identity Defender (included with an ExpressVPN subscription) can automatically check dark-web markets, flag new credit-file activity, and request removal of your information from data-broker sites.

This kind of “early-warning system” can’t undo a breach, but it can help you spot misuse quickly and limit further exposure. ExpressVPN is offering 61% off, risk-free for 30 days, with ID Theft Insurance included and no extra cost for those who sign up for one or two years.
