
Locus Technologies, a Silicon Valley-based environmental and sustainability software company, disclosed a data breach.
The breach was reported to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on July 15, 2026. The company mailed notification letters to affected individuals on July 13, 2026.
The notice focused on protective steps and available resources rather than providing specifics about how the breach occurred or when the event took place.
The breach resulted in the exposure of Social Security numbers. At this time, no additional categories of personal information were identified as compromised in the available disclosures.
The total number of people affected by the breach nationwide remains undisclosed.
Locus Technologies is offering affected individuals 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through TransUnion. To enroll, individuals can visit the enrollment page and enter the unique code included in their notification letter.
Enrollment must be completed within 120 days of the date of the letter.
The notification outlined protective options available to consumers. These include the ability to place fraud alerts and credit freezes with the three major credit reporting bureaus.
The company's notice also included instructions for requesting a credit freeze, noting that consumers may need to provide their full name, Social Security number, date of birth, recent addresses and a copy of a government-issued identification card when placing a freeze.
Individuals with questions about the incident were directed to contact the company, with specific contact details included in their individual letters
