
Lautrec Ltd., a property management company headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan, disclosed a data breach involving the unauthorized access and copying of files containing sensitive personal information.
The breach was disclosed to the New Hampshire and Vermont attorneys general on May 8, 2026.
On Sept. 20, 2025, an unauthorized party accessed and copied certain files within Lautrec's computer network. Lautrec became aware of suspicious activity within its network the following day, on Sept. 21, 2025.
In response, the company took steps to secure its network and launched a comprehensive investigation with the assistance of third-party forensic specialists. The investigation confirmed that files had been accessed and copied without authorization.
On Oct. 7, 2025, the ransomware group known as Akira claimed responsibility for the attack on its dark web site hosted on the Tor network. The group stated it had obtained 18 GB of Lautrec's data.
The affected files contained names, dates of birth, driver's license and/or state identification numbers, financial account information, health insurance information, medical information, passport numbers, payment card information, Social Security numbers and taxpayer identification numbers.
The company posted a notice on its website with details about the incident.
Lautrec is offering affected individuals 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.
To enroll, individuals can visit Cyberscout's activation page and enter the unique code provided in their notification letter. Enrollment must be completed within 90 days of the date of the letter.
