Frederick Goldman Inc., a large privately held jewelry design and manufacturing company headquartered in Secaucus, New Jersey, has recently disclosed a data breach after a third party compromised its computer systems.
The breach is detailed in a disclosure filed with the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. The total number of individuals affected across the United States has not been publicly disclosed.
Frederick Goldman's computer systems were infiltrated by a third party during the month of June.
The company's investigation determined that files containing W-2 tax information were subject to the unauthorized actor. The types of personal information exposed included names, Social Security numbers, remuneration (meaning compensation or pay information) and addresses.
The company is offering affected individuals 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection through Experian IdentityWorks.
The offering also includes $1 million in identity theft insurance, underwritten and administered by American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida, an Assurant company. Even after the 12-month membership expires, affected individuals will continue to have access to identity restoration support through Experian IdentityWorks ExtendCare.
