Bowers Group Inc., a well-known firearm suppressor manufacturer based in Cornelius, Oregon, experienced a major data breach. On May 21, 2025, Bowers became aware of suspicious activity within its internal systems. On Aug. 11, 2025, an investigation determined that a cybercriminal had accessed personal information stored in a data center.
Compromised information included names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, employee IDs, social security numbers, driver's license numbers, passport numbers and dependent information. Bowers began notifying impacted individuals by mail on Aug. 20, 2025.
The company also reported the data breach to the New Hampshire Attorney General on Aug. 28, 2025. While the total number of affected individuals has not been released, the detail of the exposed information raises concerns about the potential for identity theft and fraud.
In addition to required state and federal disclosures, Bowers is offering affected individuals 24 months of free Kroll credit monitoring and identity protection services, which also includes insurance and restoration services. Individuals with questions can contact 866-408-2322, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM, EST.

A breach notice means your personal details could be circulating far beyond the organization involved. One practical step is continuous monitoring: services such as Identity Defender (included with an ExpressVPN subscription) can automatically check dark-web markets, flag new credit-file activity, and request removal of your information from data-broker sites.
This kind of “early-warning system” can’t undo a breach, but it can help you spot misuse quickly and limit further exposure. ExpressVPN is offering 61% off, risk-free for 30 days, with ID Theft Insurance included and no extra cost for those who sign up for one or two years.
