On Nov. 23, 2024, Beech Acres Parenting Center, a nonprofit in the individual and family services sector, discovered unusual activity within its network. An investigation took place and determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed or acquired files and data stored on the Beech Acres Parenting Center network.
The cybersecurity incident compromised both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) of at least 19,315 individuals. Exposed information includes names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, bank account and routing numbers, health insurance information and medical and treatment information. In some cases, usernames and passwords were also exposed.
Beech Acres Parenting Center began notifying affected individuals by mail on Aug. 22, 2025 and published a notice of data security incident on its website. The cybersecurity incident was also disclosed to the Montana Attorney General's office on Aug. 22, 2025.
The breach was reported to the Maine Attorney General's office and the Massachusetts Attorney General's office on Aug. 26, 2025.
In addition to required state and federal disclosures, Beech Acres is offering individuals whose Social Security numbers were compromised 12 months of free TransUnion single-bureau credit monitoring and identity protection services.
