
Baylor Genetics, a clinical diagnostic genomics company headquartered in Houston's Texas Medical Center, disclosed a cybersecurity incident in June 2026 that may have exposed some individuals' personal information.
On June 15, 2026, Baylor Genetics identified suspicious activity within a limited portion of its information technology environment. The unauthorized activity occurred between June 11 and June 17, 2026.
An investigation into the incident determined that certain personal or work-related records tied to Baylor Genetics had been affected. The investigation was completed on or about July 30, 2026.
The potentially exposed information included names, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, dates of birth, medical testing information, laboratory test results and potentially health insurance information.
The company disclosed the incident to the California Attorney General and posted a notice on its website detailing the incident. The total number of individuals affected has not been publicly disclosed.
Baylor Genetics is offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services for 12 to 24 months through IDX to impacted individuals. The steps to enroll in the services are included in the company's notification letter to affected individuals.
The company also advised consumers to monitor their financial accounts and credit reports for unauthorized transactions or suspicious activity.
