Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit alleged State Farm failed to pay or adequately pay for diminished value losses when certain vehicles sustained structural or body damage. The plaintiffs claimed this was a breach of State Farm’s insurance contracts in Washington.
State Farm denied the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the expense and risk of further litigation and a possible trial.
