Individuals who lived in the United States and received notice that the November 2023 STS Aviation Group data breach compromised their personal information may be eligible to claim up to $4,680 from a class action settlement.
STS Aviation Group LLC agreed to pay $350,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging a targeted cyberattack affected its computer systems in November 2023. The lawsuit claimed unauthorized parties accessed files containing sensitive personal information, including names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license details and passport information.
Who can file a claim?
To be eligible for benefits from this settlement, class members must meet all of the following criteria:
- They resided in the United States at the time of the data breach.
- The November 2023 STS Aviation Group data security incident compromised their personally identifiable information.
- They received a notice of the breach from STS Aviation Group.
The class includes all individuals who meet these criteria regardless of whether they experienced identity theft or financial loss as a result of the incident.
How much can class members get?
The settlement provides two main options for compensation:
- Option 1: Reimbursement for losses
- Ordinary losses: Up to $600 for documented out-of-pocket expenses the data breach caused. Eligible expenses include fees for credit reports, credit monitoring, credit freezing or unfreezing, ID replacement or postage to contact banks.
- Extraordinary Losses: Up to $4,000 for documented losses due to identity theft or fraud that are reasonably linked to the data breach. To qualify, class members must show they attempted to recover the loss through other means, such as insurance.
- Lost Time: Up to four hours of lost time at $20 per hour (maximum $80) for time spent responding to the incident, such as changing passwords, investigating suspicious activity or researching the breach
- Option 2: Alternative cash payment
- A one-time payment of $50 available to any class member who does not claim reimbursement for losses or lost time. This option does not require documentation.
All class members are also eligible to enroll in two years of CyEx Identity Defense Complete credit monitoring, which includes $1 million in identity theft insurance, real-time credit file monitoring, dark web scanning and public records monitoring.
The total amount available for all claims is capped at $350,000. If the total value of valid claims exceeds this cap, the settlement administrator will reduce payments proportionally (pro rata).

Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit alleged a targeted cyberattack on STS Aviation Group’s computer systems in November 2023 resulted in unauthorized access to files containing sensitive personal information. The plaintiffs claimed STS Aviation Group failed to adequately protect this information.
STS Aviation Group denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to resolve the matter efficiently. By settling, both sides avoid the costs and risks of further litigation and allow affected individuals to receive compensation and credit monitoring services.
