
Individuals who purchased Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold in California at any time on or after March 2, 2015, when they were older than the age of 29 or on or after March 2, 2016, when they were older than the age of 28 may qualify to claim a cash payment from a class action settlement.
Tinder Inc. agreed to pay $60.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it charged older users higher prices for Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold subscriptions, which plaintiffs claimed violated California’s antidiscrimination and consumer protection laws.
Who is eligible for a Tinder settlement payout?
Class members must meet the following criteria:
- They purchased Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold in California at any time on or after March 2, 2015, when they were older than the age of 29.
- They purchased Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold in California at any time on or after March 2, 2016, when they were older than the age of 28.
How much will the settlement payment be?
Pro rata cash payment: Eligible class members will receive a pro rata cash payment. The settlement administrator will determine the payment amount by the amount class members paid for Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold and the total number of participating class members. Class members who paid more to Tinder will receive a higher payment.
How to claim a settlement payment
Class members do not need to submit a claim form to receive a settlement payment; however, class members who received a settlement notice should submit a payment selection form to select a preferred payment method.
Individuals who did not receive a settlement notice but believe they are a class members must submit a verification form online or use the same link to print a PDF form to mail to the settlement administrator.

The deadline to submit a verification form and/or payment selection form is Aug. 18, 2026.
Required information
- To submit a payment selection form online, class members must provide the claim ID and PIN from the settlement notice the received.
- Verification forms require the following:
- Date of birth
- Age at which the class member first purchased a Tinder Gold or Tinder Plus subscription
- State in when the class member made the subscription purchase
- Estimated total amount the class member paid to Tinder for a subscription from the date of purchase through Sept. 30, 2025
- A copy of a driver's license, passport or government-issued ID to confirm date of birth
- Any available documentation showing the subscription payment amount through Sept. 30, 2025, which may include receipts or credit card statements

- Class members who do not submit a payment selection form online will receive an electronic payment via the email address in Tinder's records.
- Class members who submit a payment selection form can select from these payment options:
- PayPal
- Venmo
- Zelle
- ACH
- Mailed check
$60.5 million Tinder settlement fund
The $60,500,000 settlement fund will include:
- Settlement administration costs: Up to $350,000
- Attorneys’ fees: Up to $20,600,000
- Attorneys’ expenses: Up to $300,000
- Service award to class representative: $20,000
- Payments to eligible class members: Remaining settlement funds

When is the Tinder California age discrimination settlement payout date?
The settlement administrator will issue payments to eligible class members approximately 90 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement.
Why did this class action settlement happen?
This class action lawsuit alleged Tinder charged higher prices for Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold subscriptions to older users, which plaintiffs claimed violated California’s Unruh Act and Unfair Competition Law.
Tinder denied the allegations but agreed to settle to the expense and uncertainty associated with continued litigation.
