Consumers who live in the United States, own and currently possess a Joola Gen 3 Paddle and did not accept Joola's prior offer to return their paddle may qualify to claim $300 cash or a $150 gift code from a class action settlement.

Sport Squad Inc., doing business as Joola, agreed to pay $790,000 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it misrepresented certain Gen 3 paddles as USA Pickleball Association-approved.

Who can file a claim?

Class members must meet all of the following criteria:

  • The reside within the United States.
  • They own and have in their possession a Joola Gen 3 Paddle (or a substantially complete Gen 3 paddle).
  • They did not accept Joola's prior offer to return their Gen 3 paddle for compensation.

The following Joola Gen 3 Paddle models qualify for the settlement:

How much can class members get?

The amount class members can claim depends on their category:

  • Category 1: Class members who provide proof of purchase from an authorized retailer can receive a $300 refund for each eligible paddle.
  • Category 2: Class members who do not have proof of purchase can receive a $150 one-time gift code for each eligible paddle to be used on www.joola.com.

Consumers can claim one or more paddles in one or more categories.

How to claim a class action rebate

Class members can file a claim online or print the online form, complete it and mail it to the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is Dec. 15, 2025.

Once their claim is approved, eligible class members will receive a prepaid FedEx label via email with instructions for returning their paddle(s) to Joola. They must return their paddle(s) to receive payment.

$790,000 settlement fund breakdown

The $790,000 settlement fund covers:

  • Settlement administration costs: To be determined
  • Attorneys’ fees and expenses: $790,000
    • Service awards to class representatives: $10,000 each for two plaintiffs ($20,000 total paid out of attorneys’ fees)
  • Payments to eligible class members: The remainder of the fund

When is the Sport Squad pickleball paddle settlement payout date?

The settlement administrator will distribute payments after the court grants final approval of the settlement and resolves any appeals. To receive payment, class members must return their paddle.

Why is there a class action settlement?

The class action lawsuit alleged Joola falsely and misleadingly advertised its Gen 3 paddles as USA Pickleball Association-approved.

Joola denied all allegations, but the parties agreed to settle to avoid the uncertainty, cost and delay of further litigation.
