Why is there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit alleged Specialty Networks LLC experienced a data security incident in December 2023 that potentially exposed the sensitive personal and health information of nearly 400,000 individuals. The plaintiffs claimed the company failed to adequately protect this information.
Specialty Networks denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the costs and risks of ongoing litigation. The settlement provides compensation and credit monitoring to affected individuals and requires Specialty Networks LLC to implement additional cybersecurity measures over a three-year period at the company’s expense.
