Why is there a class action settlement?
This class action lawsuit alleged Los Angeles Times Communications allegedly installed and used three trackers, TripleLift, GumGum and Audiencerate, on website visitors’ browsers without their consent. The plaintiff claimed violated Section 638.51(a) of the California Invasion of Privacy Act.
The defendant denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the risk and expense of ongoing litigation and a possible trial.
