
Saint Anthony Hospital workers in Illinois who provided a finger, hand or palm scan for authentication or timekeeping purposes at any time since June 5, 2013, may qualify to claim approximately $539 from a class action settlement.
Saint Anthony Hospital agreed to pay $1,455,300 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. The lawsuit claims the hospital collected, stored or used employees’ biometric data without providing required disclosures or obtaining written consent.
Who is eligible for a Saint Anthony Hospital payout?
Class members must meet the following criteria:
- They worked at or for Saint Anthony Hospital in Illinois.
- Saint Anthony Hospital collected, captured, received, obtained, used, converted, maintained, stored, shared, disclosed or otherwise disseminated their biometric identifiers and/or biometric information\\).
- This occurred between June 5, 2013, and May 7, 2025.
Class members do not need to have been a direct employee; anyone who worked “at or for” the hospital during the specified period and whose biometric data was handled as described is included.
How much is the data breach payment?
Each eligible class member is expected to receive a payment of approximately $539. This amount is calculated from the total settlement fund of $1,455,300 and accounts for deductions for attorneys’ fees, administration costs and a service award for the class representative. However, the amount may increase or decrease depends on the final approved amounts.
If more than $50,000 remains in the settlement fund from uncashed checks after the 120-day cashing period, a second round of pro rata payments will be issued to class members who cashed their first checks. If less than $50,000 remains, or if funds are still left after the second distribution, they will be donated to a court-approved cy pres organization agreed upon by both parties.
No action needed to receive compensation
Class members who received notice of the settlement do not need to file a claim to receive payment. The settlement administrator already has the necessary information to process their payment and will mail paper checks after the court gives final approval to the settlement.

When is the Saint Anthony Hospital settlement payout date?
