Individuals who purchased a ticket to Parrot Island Waterpark between April 20, 2021, and Nov. 30, 2023, may qualify to claim a refund equal to 9.5% of their ticket purchase from a class action settlement.
Parrot Island Waterpark agreed to return all excess sales tax collected from ticket sales during this period to resolve a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleged a ticketing system upgrade in April 2021 led to an incorrect default sales tax setting, resulting in an extra 9.5% sales tax charged on all tickets sold until Nov. 30, 2023. Once it discovered the error, the park corrected the issue and set aside the improperly collected funds for eligible patrons.

Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action settlement alleged a software error that occurred when Parrot Island Waterpark upgraded its ticketing system on April 20, 2021, did not properly adjust the default sales tax setting, resulting in an extra 9.5% sales tax charged on all ticket sales until Nov. 30, 2023. After it discovered the error, the park corrected the problem and set aside the improperly collected funds.
The class action settlement ensured these funds could be returned to affected patrons in an organized and fair manner.
