Employees who worked at a Papa John’s-branded restaurant in the United States between Dec. 18, 2014, and Dec. 31, 2021, and earned more than $200 during that period may be eligible to claim a cash payment from a class action settlement.
Papa John’s International Inc. and Papa John’s USA Inc. agreed to pay $5 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging violations of antitrust laws. Why is there a class action settlement?
This class action lawsuit alleged Papa John’s International Inc. and Papa John’s USA Inc. violated antitrust laws by entering into agreements with franchisees not to hire or solicit each other’s employees. The plaintiffs claimed these no-poach agreements suppressed wages and limited job mobility for restaurant-level employees.
The defendants deny any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the risks and costs of continued litigation.
