Current and former employees who worked for Loomis Armored US or Burroughs and drove a vehicle equipped with an internal vehicle camera in Illinois between May 8, 2019, and March 5, 2026, without first signing a written consent may qualify to submit a claim for approximately $550 from a class action settlement.

Loomis Armored US LLC agreed to pay $331,100 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged violations of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act related to the use of internal vehicle cameras in company vehicles.

Who can file a claim for a BIPA payout?

Class members must meet the following criteria:

  • They are a current or former employee of Loomis Armored US or Burroughs in Illinois.
  • They drove a vehicle equipped with an internal vehicle camera in Illinois anytime between May 8, 2019, and March 5, 2026.
  • They did not provide written consent in advance for the collection of biometric information.

Who is excluded from the class?

The settlement does not include current or former employees who signed a “notice on security measures for Loomis teammates” consent form regarding biometric information.

How much will settlement payments be?

Pro rata cash payment: Each eligible class member can receive a cash payment from the net settlement fund. The estimated gross payment is about $550 per class member before deductions for settlement administration costs, attorneys’ fees and costs, and the class representative’s incentive award.

How to claim a class action rebate

Current Loomis employees as of March 5, 2026, do not need to submit a claim to receive a settlement payment.

Former Loomis or Burroughs employees must submit a claim to receive a settlement payment. These class members can file a claim online or print the PDF claim form, complete it and mail it to the settlement administrator.

The claim deadline for former employees is June 2, 2026.

To submit a former employee claim online, class members must provide the unique ID and PIN from the settlement notice they received.

$331,100 BIPA settlement fund

The $331,100 settlement fund will include:

  • Settlement administration costs: To be determined
  • Attorneys’ fees: Up to $132,440
  • Attorneys' expenses: To be presented to the court for approval at a later date
  • Class representative incentive award: Up to $5,000
  • Payments to eligible class members: Remaining settlement funds

When is the Loomis BIPA settlement payout date?

The settlement administrator will send payments to eligible class members approximately 44 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement.

Why did this class action settlement happen?

The class action lawsuit alleged Loomis Armored US LLC and Burroughs Inc. used internal vehicle cameras to collect biometric information from employees without first obtaining written consent as required by the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act.

The companies deny any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the risk and uncertainties of continued litigation.
