Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class actin lawsuit alleged AdaptHealth engaged in improper debt collection practices under North Carolina law. Specifically, that AdaptHealth billed consumers for medical equipment they did not receive, rejected or had already returned and sent collection letters suggesting possible legal action regarding alleged debts.
AdaptHealth denied all allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the risks and costs of ongoing litigation.
