Why is there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit alleged GameStop shared customers’ personally identifiable information with Facebook via the Meta Pixel without obtaining proper consent and in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.
GameStop denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the risks and expenses of ongoing litigation. The settlement provides compensation to affected customers and requires GameStop to make changes to its website practices regarding the pixel and video game purchase data.
