Consumers who received notice that the Dobson Technologies data breach that occurred between Nov. 19, 2022, and March 3, 2023, may have compromised their personal information could be eligible to claim up to $2,000 from a class action settlement.

Dobson Technologies Inc. agreed to pay $450,000 to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging a targeted cyberattack exposed sensitive personal information. The lawsuit claimed Dobson Technologies failed to adequately safeguard data, such as names, Social Security numbers, financial account details and other private information.

Who can file a claim?

The class includes:

  • All individuals residing in the United States whose personal information the Dobson Technologies data security incident that began on or around Nov. 19, 2022, may have compromised
  • Anyone who received notice of the data security incident from Dobson Technologies

How much is the data breach payout?

The total amount available for all claims is $450,000. If total claims exceed this amount, the settlement administrator will reduce individual payments proportionally.

Class members can choose to receive:

  • Out-of-pocket expenses: Reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket expenses up to $2,000, including costs for credit monitoring, replacing IDs, postage or losses from identity theft.
  • Lost time: Up to four hours of lost time spent dealing with the incident at $20 per hour (maximum $80), which counts toward the $2,000 cap.
  • Flat payment: Those who do not claim out-of-pocket expenses can claim a one-time $50 payment.
  • Credit monitoring: All class members are eligible for one year of credit monitoring and $1 million in identity theft insurance.

How to claim a class action payment

Class members can file a claim online or download and print the PDF claim form, complete it and mail or email it to the settlement administrator. They can also request a paper copy of the claim form by calling 844-496-1032 or emailing the settlement administrator. The claim deadline is Dec. 4, 2025.

What proof or documentation is necessary to submit a claim?

  • To file an online claim, class members must log in with the unique ID and PIN from the settlement notice they received. Those who are unable to locate their ID and PIN should contact the settlement administrator by emailing info@DobsonTechSettlement.com and providing their full name and mailing address.
  • To claim out-of-pocket expenses, class members must provide receipts, bank statements or other supporting documentation showing the amount spent or lost.
  • To claim lost time, class members must provide a brief description and attestation of the time spent addressing the incident.
  • To claim the flat $50 payment or credit monitoring, class members need only select the appropriate box on the claim form.
