
Individuals whose private information the August 2024 Northwest Retirement Plan Consultants data breach may have been compromised could be eligible to submit a claim for up to $3,000 and/or credit monitoring from a class action settlement. The cybersecurity incident impacted an estimated 68,500 people.
NWRPC LLC agreed to pay $1.2 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging NWRPC failed to adequately protect sensitive personal information, including names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers, leading to the incident.
Who can file a claim for a data breach payout?
Class members are all living individuals identified on the class list whose private information the August 2024 data incident potentially impacted as determined by NWRPC’s data review.
How much will the settlement payment be?
Class members have the following benefit options:
- Cash payment A – Documented losses: Class members can claim up to $3,000 in documented out-of-pocket losses the data breach caused. The losses must have occurred between Aug. 31, 2024, and April 24, 2026, and may include:
- Losses due to identity theft or fraud
- Fees for credit reports, credit monitoring or freezing/unfreezing credit
- Costs to replace identification documents
- Postage for contacting banks or other institutions by mail
- Cash payment B – Alternate cash: Class members who do not submit a documented losses claim can submit a claim to receive a one-time $50 payment.
- Credit data monitoring: All class members can elect to receive three years of one-bureau credit monitoring services, which includes access to a fraud resolution agent if suspicious activity is detected.
All cash payments are subject to a pro rata reduction based upon the total number of claims filed.
How to claim a class action rebate
To receive a settlement payment, class members can file a claim online or print the PDF claim form to complete and mail to the settlement administrator.

Required proof and claim information
- To submit a claim online, class members must provide the unique ID and PIN from the settlement notice they received.
- To submit a documented losses claim, class members must provide supporting documentation, such as receipts, bank or credit card statements showing unreimbursed fees or fraudulent charges and other documentation of out-of-pocket expenses.

When is the NWRPC data breach settlement payout date?
The settlement administrator will submit payments and credit monitoring information to approved claimants approximately 95 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement.
Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit alleged a targeted cyberattack on NWRPC’s computer systems in August 2024 allowed unauthorized individuals to access files containing private information. The plaintiffs claimed NWRPC failed to adequately protect personal data.
NWRPC denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the expense and uncertainty of continued litigation and a possible trial.
