Why was there a class action lawsuit?

This class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of students who allegedly lost access to in-person classes and campus resources at UCSC during the Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 quarters due to unauthorized strikes. The plaintiff claimed that the university breached its contract with students by failing to provide the educational services and campus access they paid for.

The Regents of the University of California denied any wrongdoing, however agreed to settle to avoid the expense of continuing litigation
