Consumers who worked as app-based delivery workers for Uber Eats in Seattle may qualify to receive a cash payment from a Seattle Office of Labor Standards investigation.

Portier LLC, doing business as Uber Eats, agreed to pay $14,991,841.49 to resolve an investigation alleging it violated the city’s Independent Contractor Protections Ordinance and the App-Based Worker Minimum Payment Ordinance. The OLS investigation found Uber Eats may have failed to provide compensation that matched contract terms and did not always pay the required minimum for certain canceled orders.

Who are the class members?

Class members are individuals who performed app-based delivery work for Uber Eats in Seattle between Sept. 1, 2022, and Jan. 12, 2024, for the Independent Contractor Protections Ordinance and Jan. 13, 2024, and May 31, 2025, for the App-Based Worker Minimum Payment Ordinance. This includes 16,120 eligible app-based workers.

The settlement administrator and Uber Eats will use the most current contact information on file to reach eligible workers.

How much can class members receive?

The total settlement fund is $14,991,841.49. Of this amount, the settlement allocates:

  • $167,313.27 Uber Eats previously paid to 5,920 workers to resolve certain claims
  • $14,824,528.22 for settlement payments to 16,120 app-based workers
  • $33,680.26 to the City of Seattle for alleged fines

The specific amount each worker receives depends on their number of qualifying deliveries and the extent of alleged underpayments. For certain canceled orders, the minimum payment required by ordinance is $5.20 per order or the greater of the minimum per-minute and per-mile amounts for engaged time and miles.

No action needed to receive payment

Eligible class members do not need to file a claim to receive their settlement payment. The settlement administrator will distribute payments automatically using Uber Eats' contact information.

Class members who have questions or need to update their contact information should contact the settlement administrator.

Settlement administrator's contact information: CPT GROUP Inc., 50 Corporate Park, Irvine, CA 92606, 1-888-825-6104, UberEatsSeattleOLS@cptgroup.com

Why is there a settlement?

The settlement resolves Seattle Office of Labor Standards allegations that Uber Eats violated Seattle’s Independent Contractor Protections Ordinance and the App-Based Worker Minimum Payment Ordinance. The Office of Labor Standards investigated claims that Uber Eats did not consistently provide compensation in line with contract terms and failed to pay the required minimum per-offer amount for certain canceled orders

Uber Eats agreed to settle these claims without admitting liability, to resolve back wages and other amounts owed under the ordinances, and to take steps to comply with the law moving forward.
