What happened?
In November 2024, MedicareCompareUSA discovered suspicious activity involving certain internal email accounts. An investigation determined that unauthorized access to specific accounts occurred between Nov. 5, 2024, and Nov. 21, 2024.
MedicareCompareUSA notified United Healthcare in March 2025 that individuals connected to United Healthcare may have been affected by the data breach. The cybersecurity incident compromised both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI).
The total number of affected individuals has not been released, but includes 1,258 Washington residents and one in Massachusetts.
