It was determined that an unauthorized actor, identified as the FOG ransomware group, accessed and likely took data from the university’s network. The group claimed to have obtained 10 GB of data, including medical documents, personal data, and contact information for both students and employees.
After a thorough review, Lincoln University learned on May 2, 2025, that certain files contained sensitive personal information. The university completed efforts to identify and notify affected individuals by September 22, 2025.
