Longview ER Operations Data Breach Potentially Impacts Patients

Longview ER Operations LLC, a 24-hour freestanding emergency room in Longview, Texas, that operates under the name Hospitality Health ER, disclosed a data breach that affected individuals in the United States.

The breach was reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Aug. 11, 2026. On the same date, the company posted a notice of the data privacy event on its website to alert patients about the incident.

On July 22, 2026, Longview ER Operations became aware of suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, the company launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity and digital forensic specialists to determine the nature and scope of the activity.

The investigation determined that the company's network had been subjected to unauthorized access by an unknown actor. During that unauthorized access, certain files were copied from the network. The company did not disclose additional details about who the threat actor was or what specific method was used to gain access to its systems.

The company stated that the incident was limited to the Longview ER Operations network only. According to the notice, there was no indication that Tyler ER Operations or Galveston ER Operations, which also do business under the Hospitality Health ER brand, were compromised as a result of this incident.

At the time the notice was published, Longview ER Operations was still conducting a comprehensive review of the contents of the affected files. The goal of this review is to identify what protected health information the files contain and to determine which patients' records were involved. Because the review had not yet been completed, the specific types of personal or health information that may have been exposed had not been confirmed.

Longview ER Operations' response to the breach

Longview ER Operations stated that once its review of the affected files is complete, it will directly notify patients whose information is found in those files. Individual notification letters will be mailed to those for whom the company has a valid mailing address. Each letter will include details about the specific types of information involved for that person.

Patients who have questions or concerns do not need to wait for a letter to reach out. Longview ER Operations has set up a dedicated assistance line at 903-475-0990 that is available between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily.

As a precautionary measure, the company encouraged potentially affected individuals to remain vigilant against identity theft and fraud by reviewing their accounts and credit reports for any suspicious activity. It recommended reporting anything unusual to the relevant financial institutions immediately.

The company's notice also provided contact information for the three major credit reporting bureaus (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) and explained how individuals can place fraud alerts or credit freezes on their credit files at no cost under federal law.
