Current and former employees and other individuals who received a notice from Autobell Car Wash that an April 2024 data breach compromised their personal information may qualify to submit a claim for a cash payment of up to $5,000 from a class action settlement. The cybersecurity incident impacted approximately 52,714 people.

Autobell Car Wash LLC agreed to settle a class action lawsuit claiming a targeted cyberattack imacted its systems between April 1 and April 7, 2024. The plaintiffs claimed Autobell failed to adequately protect customer and employee data, resulting in unauthorized access to files containing sensitive information, such as names and Social Security numbers.

Who can file a claim for a data breach payout?

Class members are individuals residing in the United States whom Autobell Car Wash issued a notice stating the April 2024 data breach affected their personal information.

How much are settlement payments?

Class members have the following benefit options:

  • Documented unreimbursed losses: Class members can claim up to $5,000 in documented out-of-pocket losses traceable to the data breach. This includes bank, credit card and debit card fees; overdraft, declined payment and returned check fees; costs to replace government IDs; fees for credit reports and monitoring; and other losses due to identity theft or fraud.
    • Time spent: Class members can claim up to four hours at $25 per hour for time spent dealing with the data breach ($100 maximum). The time-spent payment amount is included in the $5,000 documented losses cap.
  • Alternative cash payment: Class members who do not submit a claim for documented losses or lost time can submit a claim to receive a one-time cash payment of $45.
  • Credit monitoring services: All class members can elect to receive two years of real-time three-bureau credit monitoring. Services include dark web monitoring with immediate notification of potential misuse, public record and medical identity monitoring, identity theft insurance with no deductible and access to fraud resolution agents if needed.

How to claim a class action rebate

To receive a settlement payment, class members can file a claim online or print and complete the PDF claim form, and mail or email it to the settlement administrator.
