What Happened?

On or about Feb. 10, 2025, Legal Aid Service of Broward County experienced unauthorized access to one of its email accounts. After discovering the incident, the organization promptly began an investigation, working with external cybersecurity experts and conducting a manual review of affected files.

On Jan. 5, 2026, it was determined that files containing sensitive personal information had been accessed or acquired without authorization.

Written notification of the incident began on or about Feb. 2, 2026, to all individuals whose information may have been affected. The breach was disclosed to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on Feb. 10, 2026. The organization has also posted a notice of the incident on their website.

In Massachusetts, two individuals were reported as affected. The total number of people impacted has not been disclosed publicly.
