What happened?

In March 2025, IES Communications discovered it was the victim of a ransomware attack. On March 17, 2025, a cyber threat actor disrupted the company’s IT infrastructure and it was determined the attacker may have accessed files containing former and current employee personal data.

The breach was disclosed to the Maine Attorney General’s office on July 7, 2025, and to the Texas Attorney General’s office on July 8, 2025. IES Communications notified affected individuals by U.S. mail beginning July 3, 2025.

According to official filings, the breach affected at least 6,241 people in the United States, including 1,061 in Texas and one in Maine.
