What happened?
On Aug. 5, 2025, Huntwood Industries’ Information Services team discovered suspicious traffic on the company’s network. On Aug. 9, 2025, an unauthorized intruder activated ransomware on the company’s computer systems, forcing the company to restore systems from backup data.
A review took place and revealed that files containing personal information belonging to current and former employees and their dependents could have been accessed during the cyberattack. The data breach impacted a total of 12,122 people, including 9,612 Washington residents.

Huntwood began notifying impacted individuals by mail on Sept. 26, 2025. The cybersecurity incident was also disclosed to the Maine and Washington State Attorney Generals offices on Sept. 26, 2025.
