What Happened?
On Jan. 9, 2026, Hightower Holding discovered that a user account had been compromised, resulting in unauthorized access to its systems. The company responded by securing its network and launching a thorough investigation with the help of third-party cybersecurity and digital forensic specialists.
The investigation revealed that between Jan. 8 and Jan. 9, 2026, files containing sensitive information were downloaded without authorization.
After reviewing the affected files, Hightower determined that the breach exposed the personal information of approximately 131,483 people in the United States, including 1,557 Maine residents.
Impacted individuals were notified by written letter on March 23, 2026.
