What happened?

Evergreen State College experienced a data breach between May 21, 2025 and June 10, 2025. The cybersecurity incident involved unauthorized access to a legacy file share system where files containing sensitive student information were accessed.

By Oct. 1, 2025, Evergreen determined that several thousand students were affected by the cyberattack. Notification letters were mailed to affected individuals on Oct. 17, 2025.

The data breach was also disclosed to the Washington Attorney General on Oct. 17, 2025, reporting 7,727 Washington residents affected.
