What Happened?

On or around April 23, 2025, Delta Dental of Virginia discovered suspicious activity involving one of its email accounts. An investigation, assisted by independent cybersecurity experts, revealed that certain emails and attachments may have been accessed and acquired without authorization between March 21, 2025, and April 23, 2025.

A comprehensive review determined that some individuals’ personal and protected health information was contained in the affected data. The data breach impacted at least 145,918 individuals.

The breach was disclosed to the Texas, California, Massachusetts, Maine, South Carolina, Vermont and New Hampshire Attorney Generals' offices ND the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services starting on Nov. 21, 2025. Affected individuals included 145,918 U.S. residents, impacting at least 2,374 residents in Texas, 1,413 in South Carolina, 628 in Massachusetts, 222 in Maine and 169 in New Hampshire.
