What Happened?
On March 31, 2026, Churchill Claims Services discovered a data breach involving their systems.
The breach was the result of a ransomware attack, reportedly carried out by a group called SECUROTROP. The attackers claimed to have accessed and exfiltrated approximately 240 GB of internal data, including sensitive files such as insured vehicle lists, appraisal logs, employee records, and various scanned documents.
The company notified affected individuals in writing on April 27, 2026. The breach was also reported to the Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont Attorney General on April 27 and 28, 2026.
A total of 2,610 people in the United States were affected, including 58 in Maine and 39 in Massachusetts.
