What Happened?

On Jan. 21, 2026, Brown Advisory discovered a security incident involving unauthorized access by a recognized threat actor to certain of its systems. Upon learning of the breach, the company engaged leading cybersecurity experts, initiated an investigation, and notified law enforcement.

The investigation found no evidence that transactions, trading or client investments were compromised. However, the threat actor did access sensitive personal information.

According to the notice filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General's office on March 3, 2026, the breach affected at least 134 Massachusetts residents.
