What Happened?

Bank3 discovered suspicious activity on its computer network on Aug. 20, 2025. The bank secured its systems and launched an investigation with the help of third-party forensic specialists.

The investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor accessed Bank3’s systems at various times between July 25, 2025, and Aug. 7, 2025. During this period, sensitive information stored on those systems was viewed or copied by the unknown party.

A ransomware group known as Qilin claimed responsibility for the breach and posted about the incident on the dark web on Oct. 13, 2025. The group alleged it had obtained 149 GB of data, including personal and financial information for all clients, as well as internal financial data.

Bank3 completed a thorough review to determine what data was affected and notified impacted individuals by written notice on April 15, 2026. The company also notified federal law enforcement and relevant state regulators.
