Independent investment advisory firm, Tocqueville Asset Management, experienced a data breach. On Feb. 18, 2024, the company detected unauthorized activity within its computer network. An investigation revealed that files containing sensitive information may have been accessed between Jan. 5, 2024 and Feb. 18, 2024.

The cybersecurity incident compromised personally identifiable information (PII). Exposed information may have included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, contact information, driver's license numbers and financial account information. Tocqueville Asset Management began notifying affected individuals by mail on Nov. 13, 2025.

The data breach was disclosed to the Vermont Attorney General’s office on Nov. 17, 2025. The incident impacted at least 27 individuals in Rhode Island, with the total number of affected people potentially higher, and may include both Tocqueville Asset Management employees and clients.

Tocqueville Asset Management's response

After discovering the breach, Tocqueville Asset Management took steps to secure its systems, engaged with cybersecurity specialists and notified law enforcement. The company is also offering impacted individuals 12 free months of TransUnion Cyberscout credit monitoring and identity protection services.

The company has also established a dedicated assistance line for individuals with questions, available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
