On June 27, 2025, the Texas Access to Justice Foundation (TAJF) discovered that unauthorized individuals had accessed or acquired files from its network between May 6 and May 9, 2025.

The breach was identified after TAJF noticed suspicious activity on May 9, prompting action to secure its systems and launch a comprehensive investigation. TAJF’s review, which concluded Jan. 22, 2026, revealed that the incident exposed the personal information of 2,647 individuals in the United States, including 1,339 Texas residents, six Massachusetts residents, and one Maine resident.

The compromised data may include names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or other government-issued identification numbers, medical information, health insurance information, financial account information and payment card information.

TAJF began notifying affected individuals as they were identified, with the first notifications sent Aug. 7, 2025.

The company completed its review in Jan. 2026 and continued to notify additional individuals.

In Feb. 2026, the breach was formally disclosed to the Indiana Attorney General, Maine Attorney General, the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, and the Texas Attorney General. TAJF also posted a data breach notice on its website.
