
Petrovits, Patrick, Smith & Co. LLC, a regional certified public accounting firm headquartered in Torrington, Connecticut, disclosed a data breach that may have exposed sensitive personal and financial information.
The total number of people affected across the United States has not been disclosed. The breach was reported to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on June 5, 2026.
The types of information exposed in the breach included financial account information and Social Security numbers.
Petrovits, Patrick, Smith & Co. is offering affected individuals 24 months of free credit monitoring and identity restoration services through TransUnion. To enroll, individuals need to visit the dedicated enrollment page and enter the unique code provided in their notification letter. Enrollment must be completed within 120 days of the date of the letter.
The company encouraged affected individuals to remain vigilant by reviewing account statements and monitoring credit reports for suspicious activity over the next 12 to 24 months. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the appropriate financial institution.
The notification letter also included detailed instructions for placing fraud alerts and credit freezes with the three major credit reporting bureaus.
