Co-op Credit Union experienced a data breach. The credit union discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to an internal employee account between April 8, 2025 and April 18, 2025. An investigation determined that sensitive personal information may have been acquired during the cyberattack.

A review took place and on July 23, 2025, revealed that data breach compromised personal and financial data. Exposed information included names, Social Security numbers and credit and debit card numbers.

CCU disclosed the cybersecurity incident to the Massachusetts Attorney General on Oct. 21, 2025 and has begun notifying affected consumers by mail. The total number of impacted individuals has not been released, but is believed to include current and former credit union account holders.
