Bouvier Insurance, an insurance agency headquartered in West Hartford, Conn., experienced a major data breach earlier this year. On July 24, 2025, an investigation revealed that a cybercriminal gained access to a Bouvier email account from from Jan. 22, 2025, to Feb. 13, 2025.
A review took place and it was determined the hackers may have accessed or acquired sensitive personal data, including both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). Compromised information included first and last names, addresses, Social Security numbers, state identification numbers or driver’s license numbers, health information, as well as bank account and routing numbers.
Bouvier Insurance published a data security event notification on its website and began notifying affected individuals by mail on Aug. 21, 2025. The total number of impacted customers and employees has not been released, but is believed to be in the thousands.
The data beach was also disclosed to the Massachusetts Attorney Generals' office on Aug. 22, 2025.
In addition to required state and federal disclosures, Bouvier Insurance has set up a confidential toll-free response line at 1-800-939-4170, available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern time, to answer questions from those impacted by the cybersecurity incident.

A breach notice means your personal details could be circulating far beyond the organization involved. One practical step is continuous monitoring: services such as Identity Defender (included with an ExpressVPN subscription) can automatically check dark-web markets, flag new credit-file activity, and request removal of your information from data-broker sites.
This kind of “early-warning system” can’t undo a breach, but it can help you spot misuse quickly and limit further exposure. ExpressVPN is offering 61% off, risk-free for 30 days, with ID Theft Insurance included and no extra cost for those who sign up for one or two years.
