Automotive salvage or recycling businesses that purchased certain Toyota, Lexus, Scion or Pontiac Vibe vehicles equipped with Takata airbag inflators or related parts may qualify to claim up to $69 per inflator from a class action settlement.
Toyota Motor Corp. and its affiliates agreed to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging it equipped certain vehicles with defective Takata airbag inflators. Why is there a class action settlement?
The class action lawsuit alleged Toyota and related companies included defective Takata airbag inflators in certain vehicles. The plaintiffs claimed these inflators could rupture and cause injury and that they overpaid for vehicles as a result.
Toyota denied all allegations but agreed to settle to avoid further litigation costs and risks.
